The Constitution are the rules by which our social golf club operates under.
All members must wear a club shirt on the day or purchase within 4 games to be eligible to win for all prizes on the day.
A member must play 70% of games throughout the year including nominated championship round, to be eligible to win the Club Championship in each Grade.
E.g. Graph 14 games for the year = 70%
No less than six (6) dates of play from the year’s program shall be selected for the Champion Rounds. The tally of the best four (4) rounds from the selected rounds will apply.
Count putts for championship rounds only.
The aggregate of the best putt score of four (4) games out of the six (6) Championship rounds will apply.
To be eligible, refer membership rule.
Play out hole.
E.g.took fourteen (14) strokes – record putts on card- but record only ten (10) strokes total
for the hole on card.
The committee will suspend any player found purposely protecting their handicap at any game from the Club Championship if this is proven to be true.
Junior players may be allowed to play with the club on the proviso the junior player be accompanied by parent
or guardian on the course during play. The appropriate course green fee for a junior be paid only.
Any junior player with a grade handicap, to be eligible to win prizes in the grade, must pay the full club membership fee. The game green fee levy may apply.
The age requirement allowed for a junior player is twelve (12) to seventeen (17) years inclusive
A new financial member on the day will be entitled to win all prizes and be eligible to play in all club
championship rounds. New members without a handicap will be given a 27 handicap; new members with an
AGU will play off this.
All visitors, without an AGU will play off a 27 handicap, if a club subsidy golf day they will not be eligible for
any subsidy.
Prizes: The visitor however will be eligible to win, nearest the pin prize on a par three (3).
Will play off the women’s tees.
Members of a slow playing group will be penalized two (2) strokes each.
Slow play – defined = Two (2) fairways between groups. e.g. – players on sixth (6th) fairway – seventh (7th) hole totally clear – next group on eighth (8th) tee or eighth (8th) fairway playing to eighth (8th) green.
Slow group of players should call through group behind. This might avoid slow group being penalized.
Golf etiquette advises that in the interest of all, players should play without delay.
The slow play rule to apply subject to a complaint made by group behind slow playing group and decision of a penalty to be made by full committee meeting on the day.
All new members with an AGU handicap will start with their AGU handicap – then be adjusted
accordingly by club handicapper.
Member’s handicaps will be adjusted on all individual scoring events, such as stroke, stableford and par competitions, but not for team’s events such as an Ambrose of foursome’s events.
A Grade: 1-22
B Grade: 23-26
C Grade: 27-39
There will be two divisions played once more than 20 players attend. Should there be not enough
members one division will be played and members handicap will be in play. This will enable them to a
fairer chance to win on the day.
There will only be two divisions played i.e. 1st – 2nd. (So long as there are more than 20 players
on the day see above).
A ball awarded to best two (2) scores of each grade. Other than the major place getters.
Longest drive in each grade. Approach in all grade will be given 1 x ball as a prize.
Nearest to Pin (NTP) winners will receive a sleeve of three (3) balls.
Eagle winner – Awarded a box of golf balls.
Albatross winner – Awarded a box of golf balls plus a trophy. Also awarded a $100 .00 voucher. Trophy to be handed over at end of year function.
Hole in one winners – Awarded a box of balls plus a trophy. Also awarded a $50.00 voucher. Trophy
to be handed over at the end of year function
The New Social Golf scoring system will be enforced, i.e. par 3 max score 6, par 4 max score 8, including
putts on a hole to be written on your card.
Players must pick up once your score reaches the MAX allowed strokes. (Except for Match play Competition)
The annual subscription/membership fee shall be paid in full within two (2) calendar months from the first
game of each year, this amount to be decided by the committee.
There shall be three (3) signatures minimum on all bank cheques, Treasurer or assistant treasurer are not permitted.
There will be an added levy to green fees for the convenience of handling monies, the levy on the course green fee shall be rounded up to the nearest full amount as decided by the committee.
Certain high priced games will be eligible for a subsidy. The amount of the subsidy will be determined by the committee.
The financial year of the club shall close on the thirty first (31) day of December of each year.
Committee Meetings -The Committee may meet and conduct its proceedings as itconsiders appropriate.
The frequency of Committee meetings will be sufficient so as to conduct the smooth running of the club.
The Committee must meet at least once every three (3) months to exercise its functions.
At a Committee meeting, half of the members elected or appointed to the Management Committee form a
quorum.
Length of meetings to be no longer than 30 minutes and to be held after a normal club round.
Chairman to appoint a timekeeper before start of meeting.
Toggle An annual meeting of the club must be held within three (3) months after the end of the club’s previous financial year.
The manner by which such notice is given shall be determined by the committee.
At the annual general meeting, one third of the club total membership including not less than one third of the
management committee shall form a quorum.
Receiving the statement of the income and expenditure, assets and liabilities of the club for the financial year.
Presenting the statement to the meeting for adoption.
Notice in writing prior to commencement of A.G .M. the tabling of any items to do with additions or amendments to the rules of golf and regulations of the management of the club.
The secretary may only call a special general meeting by giving each member notice of the meeting within
fourteen (14) days after:
> Being directed to call the meeting by the committee: or
> being given a written request signed by:
>> At least one third of the members of the club presently on the management committee or:
>> At least the number of ordinary members of the club equal to the numbers of members of the club presently on the management committee plus one (1).
A request for such meeting must clearly state:
> Why the special general meeting is being called and:
> The business to be conducted at the meeting.
A quorum for the special general meeting shall be the same as an A.G.M.
The election of the office bearers for the committee for the next 3 calendar years will be held at the last game of the championship rounds of the current year, or a date to be decided by the committee.
All the current members of the committee must retire from office, but are eligible, on nomination, for re-election.
The format for the conduct of the elections shall be decided as above.
The committee may consist of a Chairman, secretary, treasurer, handicapper, club captain, newsletter editor, assistant treasurer, and any other members of the club members elected or appointed. In all not exceeding twelve (12).
Club Handicapper -The position of the club handicapper will be an appointed position only, by the club committee this position is not open to a selection by ballot principle.
In the event that the club is wound-up, then all monies held in its accounts be donated to a nominated charity
or charities.
What to do with the surplus assets such as leftover prizes, golf balls and any other items or equipment, will be
decided by the committee or the club as a whole at the time of dissolution.
The committee prior to half way through the year will set the venue and date for the Christmas break-up celebration.
The cost of all food and beverage plus other ancillary costs be covered by the membership fee plus money raised during the year, providing funds permit. Otherwise, a levy may apply.
Awards may be handed out on this night listed below:
Winners of A, B, C grades. Gift and /or trophy given. Name entered on grade shields/shield.
Winners of the putting competition in each grade. Gift and or trophy given.
Winner of the Cock of the Walk Competition and / or any other special competition that the club may conduct from time to time.
Club member of the year award.
Special trophy for Hole-in-One and Albatross winner / winners. Any other award committee may agree to from time to time.
Taxi subsidy be provided to members to attend venue if circumstances arise, if Funds permit.
The term “the club” or “club” shall mean – the Smackit Social Golf Club, in these Rules and definitions.
Unless otherwise specified
The term “committee” shall mean – the Committee of the Smackit Social Golf Club in these Rules and Regulations.
The Smackit Social Golf Club is an un-incorporated body.
