Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What costs are involved with becoming and being a member of the club?

A: The only mandatory Membership cost is the membership Fee listed in the "Member Fees" section of this page. After that, there is a cost per round typically ranging from $30 to $70 depending on course and club subsidy rate. A typical round with our club is usually cheaper than paying for a round for yourself at the course. There are other optional expenses, such as raffle tickets, weekend away and after-round drinks etc.

Q: How often do you play?

A: We have a round every 2 weeks and always on a Sunday. Exceptions exist where the weekend is a long weekend in which we try and avoid rounds on those weekends. There is also 1 Saturday round each year as part of the 2-day golfing weekend away (optional).

Q: Do I have to play in every round?

A: Not at all. You can play as many or as little amount of rounds as you want. There's no obligation to play. However, members need to meet a minimum number of rounds per year to qualify for subsidised weekends away or end of year function subsidies.

Q: Do I need an AGU/Golflink Handicap to play or join?

A: No you don't, in fact most members do not have an official handicap at all. You will receive a club handicap after 3 rounds with us, which then places you in A, B or C grades depending on the handicap.

Q: Do you have prizes for winners and runner-ups?

A: We sure do. Our prizes range from free golf balls, to gift vouchers and sometimes electrical goods. members also have an official championship throughout the year and the winners receive great trophies at the end of the year.

Q: Is there a minimum or maximum age to join?

A: There is no official age limit. As long as you can swing a club. We welcome all visitors. We are first and foremost a social club.

Q: What is the membership process?

A: Come along to any one of our rounds, pay your membership fee and then after 3 rounds you will receive your club handicap and grade. Until you have played 3 rounds with us, you're still considered a visitor to the club and begin with a handicap of 27.

Q: Are carts included in the rounds?

A: Check the round schedule. In some cases, carts are fully provided as part of the round cost per member. In other cases, the club has prebooked a certain number of carts and it's "first-in, first-served" as to who gets one on the day. The cost of the cart in those cases are paid by the members who get the cart.

Q: Are visitors welcome?

A: Absolutely. Bring your friends, family and co-workers along to any round. We welcome visitors. You may or may not choose to join the club.

Q: What happens if I get a hole-in-one?

A: You will be showered with praise and disbelief! But if you join the "Hole In One" competition prior to scoring your hole-in-one, you may be up for lots of cash!!
